CLAIR MOREY

Clair Morey is a painter in New York City, originally from Columbus, Ohio, whose work incorporates collage and film stills in her large-scale paintings in order to immerse the viewer into the feelings and sensations of sci-fi and horror films. She focuses on a subject of these genres which she feels has been overlooked for too long: the female protagonist. Her work has been on view at galleries throughout the country, Clair spoke with AIR about her favorite horror films, how art is a form of escapism for her, and how connecting with other artists has improved her life.

Noah DiRuzza is a painter and sculptor from Alliance, Ohio whose works seeks to replicate the wondrous colors and textures found in the natural world. His paintings and sculptures amaze viewers while inviting them to confront the relationship between humans, nature, and technology. Noah spoke with AIR about the development and democratization of art access, the concept of owning property, and his transition from painting  to sculpting.

DR. BRIAN PACE

Dr. Brian Pace is an ethnobotanist on the front lines of the current psychedelic revolution; although he wouldn’t call it that. Presently, it seems that the United States is on a trajectory towards legalization of psychedelic medicines such as psilocybin for use in mental health therapy. The question he raises: Is it the best decision to trust a profit-driven pharmaceutical industry - which has been known to deceive consumers - to be the sole distributor of these drugs?

ARMANDO HART

Whether it’s in his writing, running, coaching, or parenting Armando Hart can always spin problems into possibilities, burdens into blessings, and tragedy into triumph. He’s an alchemist of sorts that can transform grief into gold to share with others.  In our conversation, we explore how a devastating injury that derailed his Olympic track dreams actually created an opportunity for him to fulfill a different dream - training with the sprinter Carl Lewis. That experience turned into writing a book and beginning a career as a coach. Now, he and his wife are turning a diagnosis into an opportunity to explore new ways of healing.
